The long-term goal is to extend and to develop evolutionary theories of life history evolution and senescence, and to assess their validity by collecting and analyzing both longitudinal and spatial data on a range of species. The immediate aims of the pilot project are: (a) collection and evaluation of appropriate data; (b) a precise formulation of the theoretical elements appropriate to the long-term goal.
